Wanneer de onderzoekers de oogreflexzones op de tweede en derde teen stimuleerden, zagen zij activiteit in het hersengebied dat correspondeert met het oog en gebieden die verbonden zijn met hormonen en emoties. Vooral bij korte en stevige prikkels. De bloedtoevoer en stofwisseling lag in deze gebieden bijna 40% hoger dan in andere delen van de hersenen. Soortgelijke resultaten werden gevonden bij stimulatie van voetreflexzones van de dunne darm en van de schouder.
